Are the 292 Liquid Petro (propane-shallow dish) pistons still available and from where?

Thanks in advance...great site and info from you all!

Federal Mogul still makes them IIRC the number is 980P. I bought and returned a set about 3-4 years ago.

Thanks LG! I've seen various internet talk of them as a less expensive means to bump the compression a little, in the 9 to 1 range. Don't really want to spend 600 for custom pistons.
I am building a street engine, with 73cc head from my 230. I was planning to use larger valves, mild porting just to smooth and polish and match, 4bbl on offy intake, hei, and headers.
It's about time to go meet with the machinist, and just want to know what the hell I'm talking about.

Thanks LGriffin. That number is still good. My machinist was able to substitute them in a engine rebuild kit from Sealed Power. It only cost a little extra to upgrade. I think they are $50 a piston now...still less than half the cost of a custom forged piston

Glad to help. The price is about what I remember.

When you get that 292 running gives an update please.

Sure will LG; although I am doing a frame-off resto, and I'm at frame prep now; the engine assembly is months away.
I really appreciate the info I find here, and will gladly contribute my 2 cents.

Does anybody know just how much the LPG pistons add? I have a 292 with 3 Webber sidedraft carburetors, mildly ported head and bigger valves. Will the 9.0 pistons be worth the extra expense or is it just a talking point? The engine is a street engine going in a 1932 Chev. pickup weighing about 2460 lbs. Just looking for a good reliable engine with some horsepower for fun.
