Hello all
I have a stock 1949 chevy 216 I want to pep up a bit!
I have an edelbrock 2x1 intake with 2-3/4" carb stud spacing, and plan to run fenton headers as well.
Any opinion on what carbs I should run on this intake?

I would say the same things as I did on the HAMB.
Since you have a '49 W-1, I would suggest finding another one. You would only need to choke one carb.

Thanks gearhead...I'm leaning that way. I just thought I'd post here and get as many opinions as possible!

The Carter W-1s work well for setup as they have a mechanical power system, they require a little more attention when rebuilding however, and the 'B' Rochesters have been the traditional way to go (see the tuning article in our 'Tech Tips'). Another option are Zeniths from early GMCs.

Hi LULL . . .

I have forty-nine as well (a fastback). The dual-one-bbls are the most common. I had my eye on the Tattersfield for a while:

But then I saw an Edmunds two-deuce. I am going with the 2nd design:

this takes a 3-bolt Holly 94 or Stromberg 97.

Now if I can just find the time to wrench!

I have a Carter on my stock manifold right now. It's been trouble free for years.

regards,

Go with the Tattersfield! I'm running two WA-1s on my Tat. From what I've read the Tattersfield has one of the best designs for air fuel flow. I would also say go with the Carters. They are the best carbs I've has on my 235. One more thing! Do your best to get a matched pair of carbs. If they have the tags still on them see if they share the same number. This is a very important thing when running two carbs.

Darn, I was hoping to get the one in the picture.... Cool looking intakes. I guess I'll have to use the Thickstun on the 33.

Hey LULL,

I don't think the Edelbrock will work with the Fenton headers. I think the plenum is too big.
