In its native alum. the 4200 can be well a bit less than attractive to look at..
So here is an example of one with paint..
dressed up... I kinda like it..
A combo of paint and polish could make them downright attractive.
Certainly is an improvement. . . Not bad at all. Something like that would (will) look right at home in the engine bay of my Camaro. . .
I was thinking that Chevrolet Blue would look real nice on a 4200. Some old school pinstriping on a black engine may pop too.
Another thought I came up with is using one of the "Chevrolet" script valve covers from a 235 and making a coil cover or doing an inlay on an intake manifold.
Hmm.
Would take a lot of work to make it look like that, but with the blue paint and some other touches it could be pretty cool.
I was thinking maybe something like the Pontiac OHC.
This question is off subject, but I am totally confused by the intake set up on that 235. Can someone describe it?
Its a special (3)YH Carter sidedraft 1 BBL setup installed on the Corvette Blue Flame engines.
Yes, its a '53-'55 'Vette six cylinder engine. I've never seen a picture of one outfitted that way. Usually they are shown with a chrome valve cover, a raw aluminum intake manifold, the carbs are usually fitted with little individual air cleaners. Though those shown are sometimes seen, they are bound to be better for the task, and probably quieter too (not quitter to). This is the best shot I've seen of this dual style cleaner. (maybe you could use it with a turbo). I would chance to say the motor is a '55 due to the later style water pump. If so, then maybe Chevrolet was trying to make the six appear as the ho-hum base engine and saving the chrome stuff for the high class optional 195 hoss 265 V8. Need to delve into this - it may be interesting.
