Exciting News. 12Bolt LLC has bought all the inventory of GM parts from Studebaker International.
What does this mean? Back in 1965 Studebaker was using GM engines in their production cars. Inline 6 and V8. This continued into 1966. The parts inventory was maintained and stored all these years.
almost every part needed to build one of these engines was still available.
A sampling of the stock. All NOS parts.
nearly 50 blocks fitted with pistons and bearing.
50 cylinder heads. Thousands of valves
Steel shim head gaskets
50 carburetors and parts to fix/ repair carbs
distributors
fuel pumps and repair kits
Fuel lines
Kits for every part of the engine.
It was all packed and is heading to Iowa

Great score Tom. I remember photos of the old Studebaker factory when a company had bought the remaining parts and were trying to get it out. There were piles of new rusted sheet metal parts, blocks cranks. Evidently some was better cared for.
In about 2003 while my son and I were closing the deal on a Studebaker dealer stash in Oklahoma a sleepy truck driver crashed into the building through the shop and his truck turned into a molten heap in parts room. Nothing in that building was salvage able.

waterpumps and parts to rebuild them.
Dipsticks
And the list goes on and on.

Once it all gets inventoried, the list will go on the website.

Are all those blocks 194s?
In the video it looks like the dipstick is in the rear so maybe that block won't fit in the Novas. Though maybe there is a spot in the casting to drill for a forward sump.
(Or maybe Studebakers were rear sumps?-IDK)
I guess same goes for all those oil pans.

Oh BTW: Maybe you can repeat this trick with a truckload of fitted 292 blocks

Was the 194 cast in a way to give it thicker cylinder walls. Not thinking of boring it to a 230 or 250 but thinking it might be the ultimate turbo candidate. The shorter stroke crank would also be the strongest. What it lacks in displacement could be more than made up with boost. Starting with all new parts would be a plus.

the 194 has the same stroke as the 230 just a much smaller bore.

I have quite a few people contact me for rebuilding a 194. Maybe this can be a cheap alternative to rebuilding.
The blocks are drilled for front or rear dipstick location. There is even a plug in a bag that comes with them for the unused dipstick location.

The little 194 will never be a screamer but if built right can make 200 hp and not be a crazy engine. Add some boost to have fun with it.
