It has been suggested that a new forum, dedicated to turbo charging be established on the Bulletin Board.

The purpose of this forum would be to focus on the custom installation of turbos on inline six engines where alternative modifications may be used for improved engine performance.

The alternative is to leave the forums as they are and post turbo info in either the High Performance or Engines forums.

Please add your vote to this poll? Thanks.

L;

A YES vote means you approve the addition of the new catory, correct??

John-

YES, means approval of a new forum; that is correct.
It might be worth some BB discussion on the subject.

Are "Turbos" a growing option for Inliners? future applications?, etc.

Turbocharging is one form of "forced induction"; it should be useful to include supercharging in this new forum as well: "Turbo- and Supercharging."

God's Peace to you.

L;

Thanks!

I think Don's correct; "forced induction" is a better title. \:\)
I would like to see a separate forum just for turbocharging.
That way, with just that catagory, you do not need to go through all the other sujects just to find turbocharging related subjects.

I think it would be a first for a forum having separate forum/titles specifically just for turbos, or nitrous, superchargers.

All the other forums I see have all three bunched in one title (nitrous, turbo, supercharger)
Makes it time consummining just to weed out the stuff you do not want to look at just to find what you want to look at.
Plus,,, I believe turbocharging is way more popular now than supercharging is.
Two cents spoken :-)

Yes; NOS should stay in "high performance"! \:\)

i guess if there is a new forum, i am not agaist combining the 2. it is not like there is that many posts anyway. there is always the search function too. besides both technologies use some simular parts and have common terms/ methods. tom

I agree with the forced induction" topic. the NOS could still stay in (HP)
To run a turbo, Blower or super charger. All
Pretty much run the same style came But all need/
Have the same timing issue when it come to Engine
knock and what (Nots) and Close to the same cams,

Bottom line Force is force. We could always brake it down More late If need be.

Well; I can't think of any good reason against it, so all we need is to choose a "turbo expert" to moderate it. \:\)

I too think that all mechanically forced induction should go under the new forum. The reality is the traffic here is not so high that it would be difficult to weed through the postings to find what specific item you are looking for.

I do not care where nitrous posts go, as long as all moderators decide which one and move any threads that are started in the incorrect forum.

Moderating any topic is all the same pretty much.
Moderating is mainly for keeping things inline
( bashing,BS, badgering, Unwanted topics,SPAM posts
so on )So new moderators are not really needed.

From a strictly technical point of view, all turbochargers are superchargers. However, we have become accustomed to calling mechanically-driven compressors "superchargers", and calling compressors driven by exhaust-powered turbines "turbochargers". If the turbo people don't want shaft, gear or belt-driven stuff in the new forum, I can see their argument.

Is there anybody here that doesn't read all the topics anyway? I don't care one way or the other because I am interested in anything being done to an inliner. I have my most interested topics but I learn from reading everything and even the dumbest questions sometime make me remember somethings I have almost forgot. So my vote is to create as many areas as you want if it will keep the interest and participation up, or put it all in one lump if that will work better. The main thing is for members to keep sharing information so that we all can keep learning and getting new ideas.

I agree with big bill absolutely, but as it is now we have to fish all over Engines, High Perf, and Bench Racing to find info on turbos, as of late. To those that have an interest or involvement in the subject having a separate forum would hopefully contribute to the whole as well. a 'Forced Induction' catagory makes sense.

Well, the poll is over and the results are 27 YES to 7 NO votes for a new forum. Thanks to all for the discussion and ideas. I like the idea of calling the forum "Forced Induction" so that it can broaden the scope of the forum.
Member "Twisted 6 I.I. #3220" has agreed to be forum moderator to keep order, and to stimulate some discussion.
I will set up the Forced Induction forum within a few days. Also some posts on turbos or superchargers can be moved to the new forum, if that would be helpful. Don't forget, the SEARCH function at the top right of the page is a powerful tool when looking for specifics. Thanks for your support.

I will also have some input on the site. I need to learn how to post photos. My inline will not be running until next fall ( I hope) see my post on "302 GMC for LSR" Cya
