There's something i've been trying to remember for years, and i know just who can help- you guys!
I'm going to tell a story, and if ya'll can fill in the blanks for me i would surely appreciate it.
Even though i've only been an inliner owner for about 4 years now, the passion and dream to build one some day started in the summer of 69. My brother and i were racing at a big meet at our "home" track, the old Lakeland Drag Strip in Memphis, and this little red T-bucket shows up running E/altered. It had a 292 block with a hybrid head made from small-block Ford (V-8) heads. Three things about it made a LASTING impression on me- all the home-made parts on the engine, the SOUND it made going down the strip, and the TIMES & SPEEDS it was turning out! After all these years my memories is all garbled, but i'm thinking it ran in the high 8's (1/4 mile) & 150's mph. Is that possible?
Seems like they were from Ohio, but i'm not sure. Also seems like it was a Sissel car. Anybody got a clue as to who it was?
Anyhow, this is the story i tell every time some V-8 dummy asks THE QUESTION: (i know you all know what it is) "What on earth possessed you to put a 6 cyl in a deuce roadster?"
And i would like to have my facts straight from now on.
Thanks for your help!

Any chance it was out of Canada ? There was a group of three guys from the London area, Hope, Lang and Riley I believe. I was never really a drag racer (liked the oval track much better) so don't have a lot of first hand info. I think he still runs an Inline with the V8 Ford head on it. I could be way off on this as memory fades but thought I would just throw it in here .

Thanks GMDad

That is a possibility.
Anybody else any ideas?

Thanks Walpolla,

Yes, i have spent many hours on the Lakeland website.
Lotsa nostalgia there.
The "old days 10" photos were submitted by my nephew.
And you might find the "Grooms Bros." listed in several "articles" from 66-69.
