Here's an interesting one; built in Berkeley California by the people who designed the Liberty aircraft engine in WWI and helped Duesenburg and Miller with cam design.
Overhead cam, dual ignition, about 250 HP but about 550 ft lbs of torque. That makes my Dodge look wimpy! Strange firing order. A friend had one of those in a Fire truck. It didn't look that big. It had a mag and a distributer, two separate systems.

Holy COW!!! I've had cars smaller than that (well, almost).

In the Navy I operated the Fairbanks-Morse Diesel Engines. We used them for back-up Electrical Generators.
They were 1037 cubic inches per cylinder. I ran the 12 cylinder model. That makes 12,444 cubic inches.
They are Two-Stroke Engines and each cylinder has TWO Pistons. When we did an oil change... it took 500 gallons. When I was skinny they send me inside the crankcase to retrieve a wrench. Please dont Ask.

Find a sub hull and build a lakester! That is huge. What a massive machine. My Dodge is duly humbled!

Well if it makes you feel any better they aint that fast. They just have lots of Low RPM Torque. They run around 720 RPM. The ones I ran used between 80 and 100 gallons per hour.

There are just so many remarkable engines out there that amaze me in their design and construction.
