Picked up a few trucks from a farm. Saved them from the crusher.
2 41 Chevy 1.5 tons and and 3 International's, 2 KB5 and a KB6 all 1947's.
Pulled a turning 292 from the C60.

The tree growing 41 is for parts, the red one to drive again, both have entire drivetrains. The red 41 has a working Manual hoist.

The C60 was very rusty.

The KB's. One KB5 for parts. One is nearly mint and in a building.
The KB6 is remarkably solid.

COOL! Just imagine all the work those trucks have done. Two years ago I saw my 1940 D40 International at Hot August Nights driven by it's new family. They really enjoyed the stories I told them of what that truck had done for me.

Does the engine in the red one still turn?

That's quite a haul from just one farm!

The tree reminded me of a story my friend told me. He owns a farm implement business. Several tears ago he delivered a tractor to a farm in the valley in California. He noticed the back of a Model A roadster hot rod behind a shed. He asked if he could look at it. There were a couple of trees grown-up through the open frame into the passenger compartment. The farmer said it was his son's project. His son didn't make it home from Viet Nam. He and his wife just left it where he had left it. It was not for sale.

Hope to grab the tree'ed 41 on Monday and one of the KB5's.

How well does a 250 or 292 fit in the 41? The engine bay looks tight.

I had a 261 in a '40 pickup. I don't think I had to move the radiator. I don't think the 250-292 series is longer than the long water pump of the 235-261. The 216 was only shorter because of the shorter water pump. I borrowed a '41 dump truck from a friend that had a 292 in it. I could not believe the power that truck had.

Got 1 of the 47 KB5 on Tuesday. Been in a barn for 30+ years. Had enough coon poop on it to fertilize a garden.

We took K model from Texas to California and back to help my mom's uncle move back to Texas. In return he gave us a lot of furniture. On the way home some furniture was arranged so my brother and I had a nice space in the bed of the truck under a tarp. We communicated with our parents on paper tablets through the back window. I'm sure that would now be some kind of child abuse or neglect and no telling what would have happened had there been a rapid stop or some sort of accident. There was a firey exchange between my dad and an Arizona Agricultural Agent in the wee hours of the morning at an agricultural inspection station when the agent made my dad remove part of the tarp so he could look inside the bed of the truck. It was nailed down and well sealed. I think my mom saved that guys life, but for sure she kept Dad out of jail. I have some pictures from that trip but can't post them here.

That's a really nice truck. I wouldn't do anything but wash it and fix what's broke so it can be driven . . .
