High output coil on plug install for the '06 up 4/5/6 altas engines. These are the "Yukon" coil as described in the video. The stock 4200 coils are equivalent to the LS1 coils.

Here a link to a coil test..

I know not many folks are running the 4200 - but slowly the hotrod parts are coming available....

This was a preamble to installing the secondary fuel system and high boost.

Looks good. \:\)

Do you approximately know how far abbove the top of the coil the connector rises?

Thanks

About 1" if you need an exact measurement I can do that.

I did watch the vid link you posted awhile back about the guy testing the coils. Very cool! Tom

Tom

If you could mount a 36-1 timing wheel off of a mid 90's Ford escort we could get coil near plug running on the 250-292 engines.

All the parts except the megasquirt come out of the wreckers. The Ford EDIS-6 system out of a 3100 V6 Taurus will run up to 7500 with lots of spark. And the EDIS will run in fixed timing mode without the MS hooked up so its possible to set the base timing.

Besides power and ground there are only 3 wires to hookup between the MS and the EDIS-6 module + 1 vacuum hose to the MAP sensor.

If you had more dyno time it would be fun to see how much more power you would pick up from the EDIS system.

That's close enough thanks.

I too watched the vid from before, impressive. \:\)

An engine I'm working on currently has what is supposedly a 60-2 trigger ring machined into the OE flywheel. I just have to figure out a viable pickup for it. I have one of the Ford units (off an early '90s Mustang), have to see if I have room to mount it in there.

What did it use for the stock pickup?

It was a Bosch pickup of some sort. It fit theough a hole in the belhousing portion of the OE transaxle. It has a Powerglide adapted to it currently, so no hole, not sure how much clearance between the trans and the flywheel as it is.

I was thinking about mounting the pickup to the adapter plate.

I know some systems (computers) have a limit to how much the gap in the trigger can be off from TDC (when the sensor sees it).

Does the Megasquirt have that? I could mount the pickup towards the bottom of the adapter plate but the OE location for it (where the gap lines up with TDC relative to the block) is between the 1:00 and 2:00 as you look at the flywheel end of the engine. \:\(

Seems like quite alot of correction.

I suppose I could try mounting the pickup 180* from OE and just change the wiring to the coil packs acordingly (just had that epiphany ).

Hmmm, maybe.

MS does not care where the missing teeth are as long as you enter the correct number of deg. BTDC. I think the limit is like 90*. I'd have to check for sure.

Thank you.

I have since pulled that end of the engine apart and there is a clearance pocket carved into the adapter where I think the factory sensor would go. Not 100% sure of that (as I was more concerned about getting the engine apart at that point).

Interesting though.
