Got the oppurtunity to buy a recently rebuilt inline 6 235. Double, triple checked with several smarter than me people about installing.

This engine is from a 1954 show truck and everything is checking out as advertised and my old engine, after I tore it down was ready to give up the ghost after 250000 miles.

However we notice today that the motor is a 62 block with side mounts and no front mounts. We think we can make it work but has anyone been here before or have any ideas.

Welcome to the Inliners.

What vehicle is to receive this 235? Which front mount is needed? The forward side, as used in the 1955 passenger cars, for example? The holes can be drilled in the correct location on the front plate if needed, for the earlier cars and trucks.

Both the 1954 and the 1962 have side mounts, but at different locations. Can you post or link some photos? I could link some for the 1954 and 1962 mounts later today if that would help. Try a search on mounts, as this subject has come up in the past.

Thanks for the quick reply, its going into a very cherry 55 chevy 4 door belair car that I've had for 25 years, just finished frame off restro.

old 235 was in the front, the new 62 235 is on the side, it was out of a 54 show truck, but casing numbers show block to be a 62.

Here is a link to an earlier thread re mounts, and some photos.. I would also call Tom Langdon, of the Stovebolt Engine Co. His link in in the 12 Port Advertisers section to the left.

A great car! Reminds me of when I was sixteen when the 55s came out.

Thought I'd post how we fixed my side mount problem.
Old gold car part in Old town,Fl had the side mounts that
fit the engine, ecklers had a mount kit the fit the
frame and an LS rubber mount kit fit it all together.
Thanks to Bill Caysons Auto repair for getting it all together.
