I've scoured the internet and seem to have thoroughly confused myself.
I've found a NV4500 from a 93 1500 Cheyenne that I'd like to sway into my 72 that currently has a TH350 in it. The previous owner apparently swapped that trans in as the truck has a clutch pedal.

I know that the bell housing will mate up to a 250 or 292 but as I've searched I keep seeing where an adapter is needed.

My question is this. Is the adapter needed if I plan to convert to a hydraulic clutch at the same time? I plan to convert over to a hydraulic clutch by taking the pedal, master cylinder and slave cylinder from the donor vehicle.
