First off help me figure out the wiring:

Brown wire: Solenoid?

What is this?

Now for the bad...

See the loose spring at the bottom of the photo?

This was in the pan when I drained it. Where does it belong?

Notice the fluid in the pan. It doesn't look like metal. I'm thinking it's a bit of wear from the pressure plates.

So the question is where does the spring and pin go? How do I wire this one up? and do you think I better take it to a trans shop or put the spring and pin back in, put the longer TV cable on, and try it?

The brown wire is hooked to the 4th gear pressure switch. Not sure about the pin and spring. Hope this helps some. Jay

Bits are part of the TV cable pieces.

All fixed.

The spring and pin work together to return the TV linkage when the throttle is let off. If you unbolt the 10mm bolt on the linkage it'll make sense. The arm on the pin pushes the linkage back. The spring goes between the arm and the linkage. You can re-assemble it on the bench and carefully install it with the pin going into a hole in the trans.

Also note: You don't need to remove the pan to change the TV cable but, in my case, I'm glad I did or I'd have not noticed my problem!
