Hello everyone, Is there an economical way to install like mustang A arms & coil springs on a 36-37 chevy pickup frame? Has anyone done it? The ifs kits are really expensive & I was thinking that mustang a arms could be welded to the frame along with boxing the front section of the frame resulting in a tremendous improvement ride & handling. Any ideas? Thx for the info.

The big advantage to a kit is that they are pretty well engineered. If you don't have the background, you can get yourself into some scary situations. Don't ask me how I know.

I don't know the what width of the frame is on a 36-37 Chevy pickup frame is. But if it is close to a 49-54 Chevy pass. you might look at a 73 - 85 Jag xj6 or xj12 front end. You get big dics brakes, rack & pinion steering at half the cost of anything else and easy to install. Just something to look at for another option.

A little less exotic than the Jag, and way more popular around here are front suspensions from Ford Crown Vics and Merc Grand Marqius'. I'm not sure of your track width, but it may be close enough, with the proper wheel backset. These units also have power R&P steering, discs, and are bolt-up with much of the suspension being aluminum forgings. They have replaced the Volare and Mustang / Pinto units because they are cheap and plentiful.

Here's a typical 9-minute youtube vid of an install in an early F-100:
