Rebuilding a GM 292. I read books, and watch videos, and read online. installing main bearing caps, and the info from all sources contradicts. Lube main cap bolts, or dry? I see multiple answers for both, plus if lubed, I read everything from Vaseline to motor oil to ARP lube. And doesn't each type of lube affect torque value? So, if it requires 65ft-lbs, do I still torque to 65, or does it take less due to lower friction?

It is fastener dependent as to the lube you use. If your using stock fasteners, then the bolt threads and under the heads of nuts and bolts you can use engine oil along with stock torque specs. If you use ARP bolts, nuts, washers and/or studs, then their brand of lube and their torque specs are required.
