I just got a new set of headers for my 250 L6. The only problem is that the stock intake has openings in the bottom where the exhaust manifold connected, directly under the carb. I assume this is for engine warming. What do I do about these holes??
Thanks for your help. -Nic

Well for the length of the summer you really don't have to do anything. Depending on how cold your winter gets in Miss. you may have to fabricate a plate and a duct that would allow heat to rise off the header to the manifold base. Or you can replace the manifold with an aftermarket intake that allows engine coolant to run through it.

Should I worry about too much air messing up the fuel/air mix?

I would think you can make it through the summer alright, but you may need to adjust how rich the carb runs since the headers should help your engine breathe better on exhaust. Only you will know that when you drive it. I'm not sure what you mean about the air except do you think without the plate air is entering the manifold? If so that is not the case. The heat ciculates around the intake area not in it.
