ok i can't get the !$@#@%%@%# cam gear off the cam, i used a gear puller and no go! so i being a welder said heat it, it will come off with a puller then right? uhhhh nope. broke it pulled the holes right out! any sugestions on getting the cam out now?

Is the camshaft still in the engine block??

tigpro If your talking about a L6 gear It's PRESSED on.and i don't know of ANY puller that will remove it. ALSO Remember if it is a L6 BE SURE to heat the Gear Before Reinstalling it OR IT Will Come back Off Esp. If it is a ALUM Gear.

The timing gear has to be pressed off the end of the cam in an arbor press and this can be done cold. To get the cam out of the block you rotate it until when looking through the 2 holes in the web of the gear you see 2 phiilips head screws that secure the reatiner plate to the block. Remove the 2 screws, slip the cam out of the block, and press the gear off the nose of the cam.

thanks for the help! i did get it out of the block right,put it in the arbor press and no go. so i heated it and it came off alright! in two peices. needed a new gear anyway. thanks again
