I'm planning to build a "Caddy" type of 261, you know big bore stroked mill, and need to know the difference b/w all the above conn rod lengths.

I know we had 292's out here in OZtralia, and I think the occassional 250, but none of the others. The 292 is not exactly common, so If I come up with another sized engine in the US to remove the rods from, can i use rods from another engine besides the 292?

Thanks in advance for you expertise.

Cheers

Mark - yes that Mark who was asking for the 12 Port article about how to make the trans adapter for V8 trans to early six cylinders.

Surely, there's some-one out there who knows if there are any interchangeability between the conn rods from these different sized engines!

Hi Mark, All the rod lengths- 194-215-230-and 250 CID have a 5.7" length where the 292 has a 6.760" +/-.003". (To my knowlege there are no other US motors with interchangability to the 292 specs.)

Thank-you very much.

Now all I've got to find is a set of 292 rods.

Keep an eye on ebay, I think it's Speed O Motive that has offered rebuilt sets of 292 rods in the past.

Do you have these parts numbers, as it seems that you need then to do a search for stuff on their web site?

Thanks in Advance

Mark
