What's the preferred choice for thread sealant(head bolts)on a 292 Chevy? Also,which head gasket should I use with a 292 bottom end and a 250 top?(integral) Fel-pro and NAPA both show a different head gasket for these motors.(292/250)...thanks

I use loctes thread sealer but and thread sealer should be ok. There are a few different head gaskets felpro has at least two that i can think of right off the top of my head 1 is the 8006. and for high compression use the 1025 then there is the detroit gasket whichis a 55002cs.

The Loctite thread sealer that your talking about must be their"565",which they claim has"teflon"in it. I've used it on pipe fittings for many years,but never on head bolts.Thanks for the tip! In reguards to the head gasket,the 292 fel-pro calls out the 8006 for use,and 8695 for the 250 integral.I wondered exactually what the difference was. I was under the impression that both motors used the same head gasket....thanks

If you can get them both side by side Just take a good look at them. Over lay them and You should be able to see a difference if any. I haven't looked at a integral head in years so I'mnot 100% sure what the difference is if any. It maybe seal itself around the Bore. Some gaskets were Round Not a odd round shape.
