Where is the stock temp sensor located on the 292? I don't see a place for it. Does anyone have some good pictures of a stock 292 showing all the wiring, vacum lines and brackets that I can use to build this engine up? I received this engine as a long block. I had no idea where everything goes, and the haynes I have doesn't show to much. Thanks for any help.

porkchop, what does your thermostat housing look like? I was scratching my head when I got my 292 about this subject. So what I did was tapped the flat side of the housing and installed a sensor. Here is a pic of what I mean http://photobucket.com/albums/f301/tedgriffith/65chevelleMalibu292/?action=view¤t=wires.jpg On my old 230 housing, the sensor location was where the 292 bypass hose is connected. Chop, Depending on what type of thermastat housing you have. My 292 has the sensor on the driver side of the housing.
Ted, what is the plate for under your carb?

Mine doesn't have one. I was going to do the same thing as Ted, but instead I just removed the heater hose conection and screwed it in there. I really don't need a heater here in south Texas. If I ever have to have a heater for any reason then I will put it in the same place as Ted. I would have just put it there but trying to find a 3/4" tap proved to be a challenge. Thanks for the help.

Aaron, that plate you see is part of a bracket for my throttle cable. I know it looks big but its strong and keeps the throttle cable from being a safety issue (sliding around). On the Offy intake I utilized the other two threaded holes under the carb base to bolt that plate to make a sturdy mount for my throttle cable. I haven't got around to making that plate to look better, but for now it works great, very responsive.
porkchop, my sender is an aftermarket type and I was able to use 1/4-18 pipe tap (from orielly's). With the aftermarket guage kit you get some other fittings/adapters to make things a little easier. I used the smallest fitting and matched a tap for it. Do you have the dummy light or a guage? Since you are in South TX, monitoring the temp with a guage would be important to prevent any cooling issues.

I have a gauge, but the main thing is I am keeping my truck running on 24 volts so I need to use all the original sensor as much as I can. The original temp sensor is 3/4" in diameter. The oil pressure is going to be a tricky one. I have everything else figured out except for that.
