I have about exhausted my brainpower on figuring how to make my alternator bracket fit on the remanufactured 250 that I have put in my truck.
The alternator needs to be about 11\16" farther forward than the bracket will allow. I thought about adding on to the bracket, but it looks like it is made of pot metal, so I'm not sure it can be welded. The bracket fit the same alternator on the original 250, however this one seems to be a mystery block. I can't find an Id to match the casting numbers, and the boys at Jasper who rebuilt it can't tell me what the heck it is out of either. The bolt holes for the bracket match those on the block. It just isn't far enough forward to line up with the crank or water pump pullies.

If any of you have a bracket off a 250 a pic would be appreciated. This is keeping me from starting the new motor, trying the new power steering and getting the truck to a place where I had hoped to do some body work.

To say the least it has become very frustrating and bogged the project down.

HELP!!

Get a piece of 1/4 by 1 inch flat stock long enough to go from the rear hole on the block to where you want the alt to be positioned forward.
Drill the block holes in it and then either weld or drill and bolt the original to that flat stock when the alt is in the right position for the pulley alignment. After that flip it over and drill the block holes all the way through from the flat stock through the original alt bracket.

Mike,
Thanks!
I think that overlooking the obvious is sometimes causing me to go bald as I keep hitting myself in the head and saying, why didn't I think of that?

Thanks again

If you give me a little time I'll see if i can Find the Alum. Mount I have It has Slots In it To be able to slide the Bracket Forward Or Back..If it's not the one I'm useing on my Motor. At least I don't think I am. BUT If So I could Very easily Copy it. I had to move All my stuff Forward Once I went to a after market Dampener. So I'm not sure if I made a different one Or if Thats the one I'm Useing. And I think this would fix your problem. Drop me a Email if you want.

One question I have is you are running The stock Dampener Right??

Ok and are you a 100% sure it is seated all the way onto the crank? Something you can Look at IF?? you want to pull it back off the crank and That is to check it next to the Old one and make sure the Snout is the same lenght as you old one.

Never 100% sure, but the dampener looked just like the old one and it lines up perfectly with the water pump pulleys, so I think that part is ok.
