Hi guys,

I found a Chevy 292.

The seller told that it is lying in a GMC Van???
Is that possible?

I heard that a GMC car always has an GMC engine.
And a Chevy car always has an Chevy engine.

Or is it possible. :rolleyes:

As GM divisions became more corporate the more sharing took place. Any GMC with a gas inline 6 from the sixtys on will be the same as a Chev. The later style GM inlines started in 1963, but I am not sure if GMC had inlines at the time as they were very proud of their V6 motors.

The main point is it could very well be a 292. Just hope the seller knows the difference between a 292 or a low deck 250 or 230 motor.

i pulled a 292 as well, oddly enough from a 78 gmc van too...brought my power manual with me and decoded it right there.

Make sure the side covers are close to 6 inches high and it is a 292. My 2 cents.
