My friend pulled his 1952 261 out for a built 350 and is looking to sell it for $150 is this a good price??

The motor doesn't start, but it turns over it might only be a gas issue.

Are there parts for this engine if it is more than a fuel problem? also can i buy fentons and a dual carb intake for this engine?

GM did not produce 261's in 1952. Check the casting numbers and compare to the link on the left side bar to identify the year and c.i.d.

FYI: The 261 CID engine was MFG first in 1953 for the (54 model year) and continued till late in 1962. This engine was used in large trucks/busses and others as a 'special order' too. Some were used in Pontiac autos sold in Canada as well.

The one in question could have been installed by someone other than the GM factory, or It's a 216 and the seller got the numbers transposed.

Check the casting #s in our "casting #s" section.

Good luck. \:\)

if it is a 261 from any year is it worth the $150 or less (i've already talked him down to $100)

i have read some old posts that say the block and crank are worth money

Yes; A 'hundred bucks' is a good deal, if (a big word) It's a 261" engine. The block & rods are the valueable parts. The rest (except cam) is same as the 235.

Good luck. \:\)
