Looking for a 1954 Chevy 235 in good running condition, mild hi-po ok too. Need to replace a 216 in a '48 Fleetline Aero Sedan with a cracked block. Any leads around Milwaukee/Chicago?

Ray, I have a friend with 2 '54-62 235s. At least one is a powerglide, not sure on the other. I don't know if they run or not, but they are in good condition. He's in Chicago. If you're interested, send me an email and I'll put you in touch with him. I know he's willing to let one go.

Dear Ray;

I would look for a 261". Your in Chigaco which is not that far from Canada, where there's a lot to be found etc.

Once you have found one you have something to work with wihout any chasis, radiator or linkage changes & looks the same as a 235". Also most 235 parts will fit it.

It could be built to 278" or more etc.

Good luck, John M., #3370

Yes I've done my homework, and am in the stages of getting a 261 for my fleetline. Kept in touch maybe we can swap stories. By the way the new 12 port news " inliners international" this month has a stoking a 261 article in it. I have been waiting for this it will be great reading.

Thanx everyone for the replys. I recently bought a 235 in KC and are having it shipped presently.

The guy was a pretty good street rodder building a '54 Panel. He had driven the motor/truck about a year ago and was stripping the drive train currently to get started.

No smoke, put a rblt. carb on it, rblt. starter, didn't tune it at all and was able to drive it around. Found receipts in the glove box for a rebuilt head from the early 90s and the head looks freshly painted compared to the block etc.

Just wanted to let it to a good home as he felt it ran fine but would benefit from a full tune and lube.......$100.

It'll cost about $350 crated and delivered. Hope I did OK!!!!!!!! Thanx again for all your help!

PS o you happen to know if there is a dual master cylinder available for a ’48 Fleetline, or what the best brake upgrade is?
