I found a T5 from a V6 Camaro, but I think it's a late 60s/early 70s Camaro and all the resporces I've found regarding gearing and adapting a T5 to an I6 has been on 80s Camaros. Will an early Camaro T5 work? Is one from a V6 any good?

Thanks,
Joe

Camaro didn't use the T-5 until 1983. I have a 5 speed out of a 1978 Monza that was a V-6. It is a top loader style kinda siilar to the T-5's but shifter is different. Don't know much about these ones.

That would be a T50 - Really a weak dog.

I'd like to know more about the T50 too. I have one in a 63 Nova convertible with a strong 250 and have beat on the trans pretty hard shifting into 2nd and 3rd at 5,550 rpm for several years with no problem. I know they came in Monza's with V-8's but don't know much more about them. The swap into my powerglide equipped Nova was pretty straight forward, trans only cost $50 at Pick-n-Pull and the overdrive is great. Anyone know more about this trans?

Is the T-50 the tranny that has the the shifter that is about 3/4" in diameter at the base and has the big square boot on it? I think the shift stick is actually closer to the front of that transmission than the stick is on the T-5. Anybody got any pictures or drawings?
