What years did GMC make 270 blocks with the bellhousing bolt pattern right next to the block as opposed to out on the rounded flange? Trying to find one of those rectangular bolt patterned 270s to drop into our 1936 LaFrance fire engine....it has a PTO
that runs all the pumps. Can anyone help on this? Thanks, Don (TwoBit1863@aol.com)

Don, All GMC 228-302 (and Chevy)engines through 1962 had the bellhousing bolt onto the back of the block with bolts inserted through the bearing retainer hole in the back of the bellhousing (small pattern). So any would fit your transmission. 270's are common here if you live nearby.
