Can someone tell me if a saginaw 4 speed will bolt up to my 53 gmc 1/2 ton. It has a 228 6 cylinder. I currently have a 55 1st series 3 spd trans with a open driveline.

You will need to change the lenght of your driveshaft.

Depending on the vintage of the 4 spd, you may need to change the driveshaft yoke due to a difference in spline count. As for the length, just get out the tape measure and check.
