The FrenchTownFlyer...
Hello Mr. Inline 300 Ford, I'm pleased posting a Topic to you. As you know, I'm an Engine Builder and a Chevy Guy down here in Brasil- S. America, but at this time we ( me & my staff ), in our Machine Shop, decided to develop the 300 Inline Six Ford Engine for the Drag Cars we build. As you are "THE KING" of these engines, make sure that you're the right person in help me out concerning this issue. For a normally aspirated 300 Ford engine and a full bodied Drag Car, can you give me some directions about that ?
Thank you,
Maldonado

Maldonado,

Thank you for the compliments - I am humbled. I am far from the king of these engines, just a racer with lots of experience. First you should decide on whether to use the production U-flow head or a hybrid crossflow cylinder head. You can get over 600 HP on 114 Racing gas with the crossflow head, or about 400 HP with the production U flow head and still run water through it. I used the U-flow head to start off because it costs about three times as much to build a crossflow head. The bare crossflow head in the Ford Motorsports catalog will cost about $7000 - $9000 US. By the time you add custom fuel injection, special pistons, headers, etc. that hybrid head package will easily run $20,000 US. That is why I recommend the production head.

If you e-mail me your address I will send you a buildup article from SuperFord Magazine November 1985. Most of the info still applies and it would take a week of e-mails to convey all this info.

Also go to www.fordsix.com and search the 240 - 300 files.

Welcome to the club. Get ready to go FAST!

Maldonado,

You might want to go to the "Classifieds" section of this website. There is a production head 300 race engine for sale by a friend of mine. It went 8.70 e.t. @ 145 MPH in the quarter in a 1650# roadster. That is a lot of motor for not much money.

Thanks for the replies and your special attention to my Inquiry! Why the current production cylinder head is called U FLOW HEAD ? Here in Brasil we don't know that HYBRID CROSSFLOW HEAD, presently used by you in your Drag Car ! Somehow I will be sending you my address with purposes to receive everything you can get regarding to these BIG FORD INLINE 6 MOTORS. Keep in touch and talk to you soon.
Thank you very much,
MALDONADO
