I was visiting the Clifford site a couple of days ago and noticed they said that research has shown that the best carb for a 6 is the Weber IDF 40 carb. They said it works better than any other 2 bbl and even better than a 4 bbl for performance and economy. Im sure you know it's a 430 cfm carb. How true is this? Im looking into getting another intake and carb for my 250 so if that is true im gonna get one of those and an Offy 2bbl intake.

By the way, where can I find an Offenhauser 2 bbl intake for the six? I cant find one anywhere only 4 bbl's and multiple carbs.

tatao--I don't know anything about the carb. All you should have to do for the intake, is buy the 4-barrel Offy and use an adaptor plate for the two barrel. You can buy the plate almost anywhere. I think Clifford sells them also. Hope this helps. John

I don't know anyone who's actually used these carbs, but Webers in general are certainly fine products and Clifford is probably not too far off in their claims. But pricing is a big deterrent here. The base price of the carb itself is steep, and the linkage, air cleaners and other tuning parts and accessories is considerable, too.

I think Jack is referring to things like jets, metering rods, accel. pump, step up springs, etc. All the parts that you would need to make the carb work perfectly with your engine. Sometimes you can run a carb right of the box and it will work fine. Usually though, you can fine tune the carb and get better performance and mpg. John.

Some people on the \6 boards have tried that carb without any success on their clifford manifolds. They have sent them back for refunds.
