hey guys, i'm rebuilding a 58 261 engine. it was already bored .125 over, jahns high compression pistons, 272 cam. i've done bearings/rings. wondering if i should get a high flow oil pump or stick with stock. its got hydraulic lifters. thanks for info.

Unless your going to be racing with your new motor, a stock oil pump should work just fine.

no racing...might get on it now n then...have read some about the hydraulic lifters staying pumped up at higher rpm....

Dear Darin;

You could add a washer or 2 to increase the relief valve spring pressure.

I think Tom Langton addresses this in his 261 tech tips article in the TPN.
