does anyone know if I can usa an old Y manifold that I have for some Strmbergs to match to a Offenhauser 2X1 for my 235 Chevy? The setup would give me a nice looking 4 carb staggered set up.

Hi chpewah . . . I think that I follow what you want to do. Almquist used to sell these adapters to put on top of a stock manifold. Charlie Price at vintage speed sells a repro now: But is there really enough space between the throats on an dual offy to fit two of these? I also wonder how well it would run with so much carburation. But you could always block off two of the four and get the show without the hassle of synchronizing four carbs. good luck stock49

From the first post it sounds as though he wants to mount the adapters transversely or diagonally on the manifold.(staggered)

That makes me wonder about the clearance on the valve cover side of the manifold . . . and how to rig the linkage with all four carbs in a different plane from the stock bell crank.

Well "even if" it all would fit/work It's a gross waste of time & money as it would be way 'overkill' (air/fuel)for this engine.
Those Y adapters were a "cheap Charlie" item from JC Whitney back in the 50s to save buying a 2 carb manifold etc.
This guy's just playing with us.

No, I'm serious. It may be overkill fuel ration wise but I think done in the proper manner it might have a "cool webber with high stacks" sort of look to it. Just my opinion though. As long as it isn't a V/8 I think it is worth a try. Or find an old jensen super charger.

chpewah, Are we building a rat rod per chance?? I would agree with what stock49 is saying. If it would clear the valve cover, and you only ran on 2 carbs instead of 4, and could work out the linkage, you would definitely have the only one in town. I also doubt that it would fit under any hood, if that's even an issue.
