Your 79 Nova 250 should have come with an HEI from the factory. As it is it is a pretty good distributer to start with. It has the coil built into the cap and shares the same coil and module as the V8 HEI's. For a street engine you can replace the stock module with an MSD that drops right in and you can replace the stock coil with a hi output coil from MSD. Replace the cap and rotor with new and make sure you buy a cap with brass contacts inside instead of the cheapo steel contacts. For the street I like to use Taylor Spiro Pro wires. You'll have to buy a universal set and they only come in boxes for V8 engines so you either end up with 2 spare wires or 2 practice wires depending on how things go. To get an idea what all these parts are check out Summit or Jegs on line. They both carry MSD and Taylor. Look for the parts that go on a small block Chevy HEI.
Have fun,
Mike

With every 3 V8 sets, you get a 4th L6 set free! Save the longer wires out of the V8 set and you will be ready to go.

Why not just hang on to them? As you build up various 250 inch engines order the parts sets for a small block Chevy. You'll end up with extra pistons, rod bearings, valve springs, and rocker arms. Your 4th 250 will cost next to nothing to build as compared to the first 3. LOL - have fun with the car. Mike

I to perfer Taylor wires but this maybe of help. You can purchase Accel wires for the 232/258-6 cylinder CJ7 Jeeps. They should work fine on the Chevy motors with Orignal,Mallory and Msd distribtors. The wires for the 84-86 4.9(300/6) Ford motors should work on the Chevy HEI distribtors. Paul
BAN LOW PERFORFMANCE DRIVERS..... NOT HIGH PERFORMANCE CARS!!
