I had to replace my HEI dist. last night due to the centrifugal advances was locked up...
My dad had another dist. but is a little different...
The shaft on the dist I took out was once piece from the oil pump up...
The other one has an approx 2" extension piece from below the cam to the oil pump held in place by a little roll pin.

Has anyone else seen this style, will it be reliable?

Thanks

You can use it,, but I prefer the one piece shaft.
A lot of times the centrifugal advance gets stuck because of poor or no periodic maintenance had been performed.
Usually you can get the centrifugal advance mechanisum apart clean it up & lube the parts put it back together & run it.

Redtech,

Bruce Murray, an Inliner in Portland knows the HEIs extremely well and can set it for exactly for your combination. His shop is Majhor Murray Ltd and I think it is on Milwaukie.
