Anybody got a good cleaner, polisher for taking rust off chrome. I tried never dull and chrome polish. There should be something better, that stuff has been around for at least 30 years.

One thing you might try first is getting a steel wool pad-EXTRA EXTRA FINE grade, like used for buffing wood finishes. This works good for cleaning/polishing before applying chrome polish. you could try a small area first.

NEVER use "steel wool" , Comet, Ajax or abrasives on automotive chrome.

"Copper wool" is for that(with lots of water), then polish. Steel wool puts scratchs there that won't come out. Steel wool/abrasives are for cleaning 'pots & pans' and household appliances which are chromed differently.

The steel is stronger than the plating in many cases. If it(the debris)gets into new paint & rusts the paint job is ruined too.

Good luck, John M.......
