Hi, I let my 16 year old cousin borrow my truck last week. Now I have 3 holes in the oil pan. When I got to the truck, you could smell the antifreeze from about 30 feet away. (before I had it towed home) He told me it over heated and stalled. It was about a 1/4 mile from my house so I just walked up there to drive it home. It was so tight it wouldnt even turn. After I got it home I ordered a re-ring kit. I started to get everything disconnected so that I could remove the engine, and that is when I found out I had 3 holes in the oil pan. My question is do I get another L6, take this one apart and see if it is rebuildable, or put my 350 in the truck when I get it back from the machine shop? I know someone that has another 250. He says I should scrap the integral head on my truck. He has a non integral head. My truck has a dual exhaust manifold from the factory. How difficult would it be to find another dual exhaust manifold for the other head? Thanks for your help, Bill

Bill, I would go with the 350, since it's already being built. Plus you'll have much more power potential and it'll be easier (and cheaper) to find hop up components. If you stick with the 250 you'd have to go with headers if you go with a non-integral head. The headers to fit your truck can be had cheap - I even have a spare set to fit 63-87 Chevy trucks that I'll let you have for cheap. Especially if you'll sell me another cherry picker. :p -magic mike-

I agree with magic mike. If you're already having the 350 built, then you might as well put it in there. It would be the cheapest way too. You could always rebuild the 250 and put it in later, if you ever wanted to go back. I have split headers from Hedman on my 250. I got them from Summit, I think. John

Hi, Thanks for the replies. The 350 wont be ready for another 6-8 weeks. Magic Mike- I wont be able to pick up anymore cherry pickers until my truck is back on the road. I will email you when I get some more in. Im not sure what Im going to do about the L6 as mine has a large hole in the block.
Thanks again for the replies, Bill

Bill. Sorry to hear what has happened to your engine. Saw a 250 with, he says 72,000 miles for $ 225 they seem to be fairly plentiful and cheap. The 350 would be nice too. Think I am sticking with the inline6, I likem. T
