Does anyone know if there are any 'performance' or build up manuals out there for the 300? I am looking for more in depth info than is available in a Haynes or Chilton's. Thanks all.

I wrote an extensive article for SUPERFORD magazine in 1986 (the August issue as I recall). There are no performance books on the topic, but www.fordsix.com has a whole forum devoted to the 240 / 300 sixes. Also the 12 PORT NEWS has member written articles. What are you building?
Good luck.

i should like to see Greg Koesel, the famous "Flyer," do for the Ford 240-300 series what Leo Santucci has done for the GM 194-230-250-292: write an authoritative guide to rebuilding and modifying these fine engines for power and efficiency, based on his considerable experience and what he knows about the work of others.

Such a book would be an important contribution to our knowledge and understanding, and it would go a long way toward gaining these engines the respect they deserve.

God's Peace to you.

I appreciate the help guys. I am in the process of rebuilding a 300 to put into a mustang that I am going to be doing for the wife (like Johnny Cash said, one piece at a time ;\) I know chevy small blocks up and down but for some reason, when my neighbor gave me this engine, I sort of fell in love with the strait six concept, that, and after reading so much about them doing research, the good WAY out weighs any bad that I might have heard.

Sorry, forgot this part, but I tried logging onto the fordsix website but whenever I tried to register, it just kept kicking me back to a message saying that my screen name was already taken. The kicker is that I never entered one!!

There's an article on tri-power for a Ford 300 in the Sept./Oct. 2003 12 Port News.
