Hello all. I have watched this forum for a spell, and find a real scarcity of comments on 230 engines. Am I the only one to own one? Anyone else on here have a 230? Have pictures, stories of builds etc.? What your ride is that it's powering? I am working on a homebuilt frame with the 230, a T-5 from an S-10, and a body (shell) of a '29 Essex Rumble Seat Coupe. Going kinda slow but steady. I would like to build my own headers, 6 into 1. I would also like a 2 twos manifold (someday). Someday I gotta figure out how to post pics etc. and do a thread. Perley

There are people out there w/some built 230's.
It is very easy to make it a 250 & have more power & probably make the same mileage,so why not make it a 250?
You build them just a like you would a 250,or 194 basically.

If you have any questions on cams, compression,cylinder head mods etc, etc, just ask away.

We need to know what your car will weigh, rear gear ratio,tire height,plans on racing, hot street, good gas mileage etc?

To make it into a 250 you would need to swap out the crank and the pistons.For what your building the 230 would probley be just fine. So my 2cent is take what money you'd put into makeing it a 250 and put it into your ride in other areas.
So unless your after more cubes & HP i'd say build what you have
already.
