Hi my name is Jerry but everybody calls me Bubba I'm from southern Missouri and my inline is in a 72 invader ski boat found this place looking for parts for it.I really need a 250 engine or a 165 mercruiser as my block is busted.Could deal with just a block and use my internals

welcome, check out the site. this site is put up by the inliners club members. feel free to join, the info is at the left of your screen. there are members in your area and i bet 1 could help you out. the dues are minimal and you will get a club roster and a monthly publication.

There is a boat salvage yard in Indianapolis, Indiana that ships parts anywhere and has reasonable prices. I don't know the name but you might find it on the internet. I have dealt with them in the past and have been happy with both price and service. Maybe someone from that area can find the name and address for you. How about it Don do you know what yard I am speaking of. Three years ago they were in the Dayton,Ohio yellow pages but don't see them now.
Been there, Done that, Hope to live long enough to do it again.

This may be the place that you're remembering, Bill. i've not been there, but the Zip Code would place it in South Indianapolis.
Some driveways near my house look like a boat salvage operation, but that's another story. One can park an old car in an Indianapolis driveway, and within a week have a threatening letter from the city, but people leave boats bigger than their houses in their driveways for years.

Is it just cracked at the bottom of the water jacket? In 1975 I got a "real deal" on a boat with a 160 Mercruiser IO. Took it to the lake fired it up and began to take on water. opened the engine cover to see water running out the full length of the block at the base of the water jacket where someone had let it freeze and break. Since I was so wealthy at the time I decided to try and fix it myself. So washed the side of the engine then etched it with acid and rinsed it real well. After it dried I mixed up some Bondo (body putty) wiped it in the crack and smoothed it down to hide the bulged out area. When that dried I painted it black, took it to the lake used it all summer thinking I would have the money to fix it during the winter, never happened. To make a long story short I owned it boat another ten years then sold it to the friend that helped me patch it in the first place. He sold it in 1998 and I had not seen it till a couple of years ago, when I seen it I thought it was my old boat so I ask to look at the engine the guy said sure and there it was still had the Bondo lump and still not leaking thirty plus years later. The Guy knew it had been repaired but wondered how I knew and we had a good laugh because he had just bought it and was wondering if the patch would hold.
Been there, Done that, Hope to live long enough to do it again.

Thats sweet never thought about bondo.Yes its about 2 inches from the top of the block about 10-12" long and its been welded before.Busted right at the top of the old weld.Thats the bad news the BAD news is that it sat with water in the cylinders and i'm sure they busted too but cannot tell for the rust.Head does arrear to be fine ,It was a new or reman head so i'll probably have it magnafluxed.If i could even find a bare block i might be able to peice a motor together.Found a 292 today but i'm afraid its to tall as there is only about 2" clearance on top of my engine.On another note i used to be big into truckpulling.I always ran a 454 but a freind of mine built bored and stroked 292's running around 650HP man they sounded sweet,HMM wonder if he has a spare one of those laying around??lol
