Has anyone else noticed the NOS 302 GMC Shortblock that is listed in the For Sale ads? Gulp. $10K or BO. Double gulp. ![whistle](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/default/whistle.gif)

I think it would be neat to be able to get an NOS engine, but at the same time, I think there is enough supply of good used engine cores, much much cheaper, to ever warrant that kind of dollars....

I know a guy in Fresno who has a complete NOS 302 and several NOS heads. The last time I saw him he was putting a '40 Ford pickup together from NOS parts except for the frame and cab! I'd rather have my "proven" parts! ![laugh \:D](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif)

In 1988 Patrick Dykes sold several of these NOS 302 shortblocks for $500.00 a pop. i bought one then, and still have it, with its growing "patina."
If indeed these artifacts have appreciated that much, then that purchase in 1988 is the best automotive "investment" i ever made. A few weeks ago i had to move it yet once more to make way for one of the Projects of the Executive Committee, who, of course, had much to say on the subject. Perhaps the value of this "old rusty iron" can now be appreciated in more than one way.
God's Peace to you.

Its gotta be a misprint. You can get a 12 port for that kind of money.

This person is, apparently, quite serious in his intent. He says that he has, or has had, a Wayne 12-port head for a Chevy, also for sale, but he would not "give it away."
i think that his asking price for this item is entirely unrealistic, but . . . there's one born every minute, so some people say. Maybe he'll get an offer that he likes, or will have to like.
God's Peace to you.

It looks like the price dropped to 3K. Now if it gets cut in half you have some negotiating room.

Patrick called me in 1988 when he was trying to sell the 302's he had come across. I had just bought a 261 block that I was readying for my truck, so I passed. If I had to do it over again, I would have bought. You learn allot in 20 years! Joe ![crazy](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/default/crazy.gif)

3K WoW! I bought a NOS short block at the Long Beach High Performance swap meet last year for $800 and he said he a few more back home. All I can say is good luck to him and if he gets the 3K great.
