Follow factory specs for your engine likely zero lash at TDC.

According to my service manual, tighten them to zero lash, then loosen until they begin to clack, then tighten back just till they stop. THEN, Tighten them full turn in 1/4 turn increments with like 10 seconds in between each 1/4 turn so they can move around. Good luck
