I just bought an Offy Al. finned valve cover. It does not have the hole for the PCV valve. The area on the Offy where the one goes on the stock one doesn't look wide enough for the grommet. Is the another location it can go with out interfereing with the rockers. An aternative, smaller pcv and grommet, maybe? What about a baffle inside? Any body got pictures of their install?

Just need to mill out the fins,w/a end mill so you will have enough room for your gromment.

As above, I milled out the fins and put in a grommet for the P.C. valve. I also took the baffles from the stock cover and mounted them in the Offy cover. Before I mounted the baffles, I was getting a lot of oil being sucked into my carb through the P.C. valve. Baffling the front hole where the oil goes in also kept the oil off the top of my Offy cover. Al

How did you mount the steel (?) baffles in the Al cover?

Small sheet metal screws,pop rivets,cherry rivet,huck rivets,put them in wet,meaning w/some type of sealant.
I do believe companys make gromments with rubber baffles built into them for PCV valves as not to suck in oil.

Moroso makes grommets with rubber baffles inside. They did not work for me. I used small nuts and screws with allen heads to fasten the baffles in place. The small allen heads do not detract from the look of the finned cover. I welded the nuts onto the underside of the baffles to eliminate the possibility of them falling inside. Al

I think I did want you are thinking about. Milled the fins down on top. Drilled a hole for the Billet PVC Cap with hose to the vacuum side of carb. Rivited a baffle under the valve cover so oil would not splash up. Hope this helps! RapRap 1940 ChoppedChevyCoupe

MBHD It had one of those cheapo chrome covers on it that had a rectangular tube taht came down from the fill hole with a hole in the side that the PCV valve went in from the side. Thanks guys that gave me some ideas to work with.

Yes, the stock baffles are long rectangular tubes that are tack welded in place. They are easy to remove from the stock cover. I did a lot of measuring to get the baffles in exactly the right spot before drillin holes. I only drilled 2 holes per baffle---fore and aft of the oil hole and the PCV hole. Al
