I have been reading a book titled Chariots of Iron written about the 735th Tank Battalion of WWII. In it I learned that Chrysler built M3 and M4 tanks with 5 of their automotive inline 6 cy. engines connected to a common drive making for a 30 cylinder tank. Very interesting and I had not heard that before. The book also notes a V8 Ford engine used later that was 1100 ci with 500 hp and 950 lb ft of torque in the M4A3E8 tank. That would pull stumps! S

my grandpa drove those tanks in WWII in the french/german campain. he said it went better when they changed over to 2 or 3 cadillac engines though. tom

Steve, we had a VW beetle with a 396 stuffed under the front bonnet come to our car show once...I sure thought that was a tight fit, but have now to completely revise my opinion. That looks UNREAL!! What a huge engine.
Tom, the book mentions better going with the twin Chrysler or single Ford engines. Sam

If I remember right that V-8 Ford weighs 1100 lb dry, That would be enough to help hold the front end down.

That is certainly a chunk of metal! A quarter scale one of those would run my car just fine. Lined up, of course.
Those coilovers on the Mustang look a bit small.
Steve, I am curious about stats on the engine. In the tank it was limited to 2800rpm by a govenor and made peak torque at 2100. Any idea what the "mustang" version will do? And is that a B-ville car? S

The engine walpolla posted is in the Chryseler Museum in Auburn Hills Michigan. Its impressive. I recommend a visit to the mnuseum if you get to michigan.

That motor in the Mustang looks a lot like the 1964 Ford Indy DOHC engine on steroids. Cool looking mill, though.
