Hello everyone, new to the forums here although I have been lurking for sometime trying to learn about the inlines.. Recently I started a 60 swb project and after reading here for the last few months I decided to go with an inline 292, I was looking at other inlines but this one fell in my lap. Anyhow, picked up rebuilt 292, it was build awhile ago and appears to have been built for power, it has a 194 head, offy intake (4barrel) and split headers.. Anyhow I am starting to go through it and get it ready to fire and I pulled the cam to re-lube and I figured I would see what cam it is.. I cannot find it anyplace and thought possibly someone might be able to atleast point me in the right direction here, if I decide to go automatic then I would like to know what cam I am running.

End of cam 930442 and J033 or could be J038, i thk 33

Casting numbers J19 and CT6-64

Thank you for your time,

Skez

There are companies that use a cam doctor machine & it will tell you everything about the cam,IE,lift, duration lobe center, etc, etc, etc.
Cost used to be $20.00

The numbers on the cam could mean nothing if it has been reground. The next choice would be to get a degree wheel, dial indicator, and degree it in. The most accurate would be Hanks suggestion.

Thanks guys, I checked around local for someone with a cam Dr, I had heard the term when I was younger but with all the computer generated tests etc these days the calling for them I guess is limited. There use to be a few guys locally but they have since passed away. A local shop offered to put it into a batch going over to the seattle area to be ground and it can be checked there for a minimal fee since its going with a bunch of others. Thanks again for your input, will cost me 10$, that is probably the smallest dollar amount I have had to put out building anything.
