Hello all,
I'm very happy that I found this website. I would love to have a performance built inline 6 in my 1954 Chevy 210 deluxe with powerglide transmission.

I am exploring several different options. Most likely going to stay with a naturally aspirated engine, but those turbo engines looks so sweet and I am sure they are very fun to drive.

I was wondering what are my options in terms or upping the displacement of this engine? I see these 250 and 290 numbers being tossed around, is this something I can acheive with my engine?
What about some cylinder head options, should I stick with the stock head and do some mild work to it? Or is there an aluminum head that I might want to run.

Finally, assuming I stick with the factory based engine but somply to do intake, exhaust and cam work, Where can I find a rebuild kit for this engine? I have seen a few but I don't know what the good quality parts are and what are some areas of the engine that need extra attention.
I had to include a shot of the engine bay when I bought the car.

ToddH, I would start with checking out the "Advertisers" link on the right side of the main page of this site for available engine parts. There are many improvements that can be made to a 235, but safely boring it out to 250 or 292 is not really feasible. There are many posts in the forums on mods. Try the search feature.More questions are always welcomed here.

Take a look at Webrodder.com. Doc has done an entire build article on a 235.

These are only personal opinions. Unless you are want to keep it original I would dump the '54. Get a '59 thru '62 to build; if you can a 261. All the PG's were lazy and hop-up's didn't accomplish much because of it. A lot of people on this site will help. If you really want some old power put it a 302 or 270 GMC with a 350 turbo hydro and a 9 " Ford rear and have fun scaring your self and all the Honda Civics. :<).Good Luck
