We cobbled the Trailblazer we bought for the engine & trans (for the '50 Jimmy) together enough to drive around the yard (lotsa K turns).

Pretty peppy. Be interesting to see what it's like in something lighter (as I figure a '50 GMC 100 is lighter than a 2004 Trailblazer).

I'll start a 'build thread' when we get close to doing the swap.

I don't know for sure, but being nealy the size of the older Suburbans, and having all the 'modern' junk in them (power stuff, safety gear, mondo sound deadening, etc) and IIRC I seem to have heard, I was thinking that the trailblazers were somewhere around the 5K Lb mark (5300 ish?). Of course that may be for a 4X4 (which ours isn't, easier swap that way ) so we might be a few hundred Lbs lighter than the 'norm'.

I don't know for sure what the '50 weighs, but I'd guess between 3500-4000 empty. With the swap, we'll add some, and take some away, so I dunno, but I would expect the Jimmy to be lighter when we're done than the Trailblazer was when it was whole.

i did not know they made the trailblazers in anything other than 4wd. being 2wd might help simplify the swap. tom

Yes, we were quite surprised ourselves, aparently the guy bidding against us didn't know it was 2WD either.

But it's got no T-case, front shaft, front diff, short shafts, 4X4 range selector, the hubs don't look like they've had anything screwed in and the trans has the 2WD extension housing, and as you might suspect, a RWD driveshaft already installed. \:\)

Best we can tell, it originated in Florida, not sure how it got here with only 60K on it.

Runs nice. Should be reeeeaaaaal nice in the Jimmy.

The more we look at it, the more parts it looks like we can swap in (I may be able to get the entire fuel system swapped over, that saves quite a bit of $$$).

Best we acn measure, outside of tire, to outside of tire, we think we can get the trailblazer rear in there too. How crazy would that be, same trans and rear gear ratio the factory programmed it for.

Right now though I'm just happy to have it running (somone sabotaged it just enough to make it not crank or go in gear, not sure what was up with that).
