i bought a clifford intake with a holley 450 from a friend.he had a water plate or jacket milled to heat the intake.well not wanting to spend $250 on some headers i had my stock manifold slit the old fashion way.oh ya i have a 250 im putting into a 51 sedan.sorry should told you that in the beging.well of course the stock manifold and the clifford intake dont match up.is there another intake i can use that will work with the stock manifold?or do i just suck it up and run the stock intake?also what are the big diff between the stock i believe is a 1bl(its off of a 67 truck)and the 4bl?thanks and keep them inline!

If the Clifford came off a 250 I'm not sure why it doesn't fit.Where doesn't it match exhaust manifold?

I believe the Clifford 194-292 intake 4 barrel manifold is not compatible with the stock exhaust. You have to go to headers.

Clifford intakes are really made to fit Clifford headers. If you have a 63-87 Chevrolet truck then cheaper headers of the same design are made by Dynomax and Hedman. Last time I checked they were about 30-40% less than the Cliffords.

I have a spare set of the Clifford "shorty" style headers, and I currently have the Dynomax long tubes on my 292. I've also seen the Hedman's. If their steel gauge is consistent across designs, then the Clifford's quality is much better than the other two.

The stock intake Is little The Offey intake It is skinny. Other then the offey is also a 4b carb. The offey is more designed for Low to mid range power. Where as the clifford Being Much wider
(runners being wider) It was designed for Mid to upper rpm Power. The stock was designed for MPGs not performance. Hope this helps }[oooooo]

I have run clifford 4 barrel manifolds with stock (split) manifods several times with no problems. Could the hot water heating unit be causing the problem?
