Pull the spark plug from the #1 cylinder, then put your finger over the plug hole and crank the engine until air pressure pops your finger out of the hole, then check the timing mark on the damper and line it up with the mark on the timing cover thingie with the timing marks on it. That'll get the piston in #1 cylinder at TDC. Then rotate the distributor rotor to line up with the #1 plug wire on the cap, then insert the dizzy into the block, keeping the rotor lined up. If the distributor doesn't seat all the way when you do that, take a long screwdriver and rotate the slot in the oil pump drive to line up with the tab on the bottom of the distributor shaft, and try again. It may take a few tries before you get the dizzy to seat, but it will eventually, then tighten the distributor hold down clamp finger tight and try starting the engine. It should fire if everything is lined up right, then you can use a timing light to fine tune the timing, and then tighten the dizzy hold down clamp with a wrench, and you're all set.
