Can someone explain the types of heaters available for AD trucks.
Mine has a huge box below the dash ? some one called it a prarie Farmer Heater ? What with that ?

Wev'e got a '50 with the factory optioned heater, and the defroster on it. Has a large GMC scripted cover over the motor area (not quite the same size as the hubcap script, but close).

I remember seeing someone advertising a repop for that, with AC hidden in there as well. I marked it in the magazine, and put the mag in that "special place" so one of these days I'll find it 'cause that special place will overflow.

Hopefully whomever it was will still be in business then.

Heaters were an option then and a lot of cars and especially trucks were sold without them. There was a large market for aftermarket heaters. Apparently they were less expensive than the dealer installed items.

Prairie Farmer may be a brand name or a generic nickname for an aftermarket heater.
