My 64 GMC is an original 230 truck. However, over the 46 year lifespan, it may have had a different motor put in, the motors original color is blue, and the motor is orange. So, to be sure it is a 230 as my cab tag suggests, I ran the casting number, 3850817, on the page from this site, and got '62-'79 230/250. Gee that really solved that mystery.... Anyway to tell?

Pull a plug and see if the pistons are dished 250 or flat 230. You can also get the # stamped on the distributor pad. Post it up. Tom
