I salvaged two incomplete shift boxes-both from '53 P/Us-with plans to rebuild them to proper clearances and fits. BUT, I need a few parts to complete them and have hit a brick wall. I need one strap (and original bolts),two springs and one plug and would rather not buy several whole boxes for parts. Anyone know a source of these parts?

Assuming you're talking Chevy/GMC http://www.oldchevytrucks.com is one source for some of your parts or a completely rebuilt shift box. There are other aftermatrket suppliers also. Just google it.

Sorry. I was offline for a while traveling. The shift box is on a '53 Chevy P/U. I've been thru Jim Carter and others as well as the Internet. Found some parts but none I needed. Hoping for sources hoarding trucks, cars and parts (just like a junk yard?) but so far I haven't found one. Any leads?
