The only Borla I have ever used was a "collector" style (slipped right onto the primaries).

It made it a deeper or thraotier sound.

Hope that helps.

I've got a Magnaflow 11254 which is the same design as a Borla, meaning straight through stainless muffler with a perforated tube wrapped with stainless matting.

I've got a single 2" exhaust on a stock 235 in a 56 Chevy. She sounds sweet and mellow. Not much louder than the stock replacement type muffler but enough to make me smile. I always get comments on how good she sounds.

Also, had a Borla 2.5" center inlet offset outlet on a 77 Datsun 280Z back in the 1993. That car had a 2.8 inline six with the stock exhaust manifold and a single 2.5" exhaust. That car sounded wonderful. Many smiles with that setup.
